Hull – Post Show Review
What a fantastic day we had last Sunday. We hope you enjoyed the show too. Block Con was a huge success despite the short notice cancellation of the Saturday show, and we saw over 1500 guests from around the region descend upon the KC Lightstream Stadium to enjoy a LEGO-filled day.
We had creations from 20 AFOLs from around the country, including some that are currently featured on the LEGO Ideas platform, such as Bob Turner’s Red Dwarf, the Fisher family’s Land Rover and Iestyn Pocock’s Toy Story Andy’s Room. We also had a fantastic marketplace which was filled to the brim with LEGO goodies.
We had some competitions running between our model builders, one of which the public helped us to vote on. The results were as follows:
AFOL Award (Voted for by exhibitors)
Winner – Iestyn Pockock for his Andy’s Room MOC. Runner Up – Jules Brown for his Legoland layout.
Critics’ Choice (Voted for by ToysRArt)
Winner – Andy Wood for his Charizard MOC. Runner Up – Iestyn Pockock for his Andy’s Room MOC.
Public Vote (Voted for by the public)
Winner – Iestyn Pockock for his Toy Story Layout. Runner Up – Richard Hinchcliffe for his Ninjago Temple Scene
Thank you to everyone who voted. As we mentioned, there was a prize draw for submitting your vote, and we are pleased to announce that Thomas Richardson, aged 5 from Howden is the lucky winner. A goody box will be finding its way to him very soon.
The trophies and prizes were sponsored by Stackable Toys
Play Zone Perfection
One of the highlights of the show was the play zone, where families could relax and play with the 20,000 2×4 bricks that we brought along with us (courtesy of Fairy Bricks). It was amazing to see how the children that arrived throughout the day built upon each others creations to make some rather special constructions. By the end of the day, the boxes were empty, and we had some incredible towers to break back down again.
Thank you ever so much from all of the team at Stackable Events for attending our first Block Con, and we hope to see you at the next one!
